Origin Story

Sleep Space was born on a ski trip. While traveling to ski resorts, founder Ethan Sargent noticed a strange but common pattern: people sleeping in their cars overnight or paying $100+ for so-called “budget” hotels—just for a few hours of rest.

Everyone wanted the same thing: to ski all day and have a warm, safe place to sleep at night. Nothing more. At one point, Ethan realized it was actually cheaper to rent a car and sleep in it than to book a hotel room.

That moment sparked a simple question: Why does a basic place to sleep cost so much? Inspired by pod hotels he had seen abroad, Ethan began thinking differently about hospitality.

If travelers didn’t need large rooms, oversized lobbies, or unused amenities, why were they paying for them? Later, after meeting with a real estate developer and seeing a full breakdown of hotel construction costs, his hypothesis was confirmed.

Traditional hotels weren’t expensive because of comfort; they were expensive because of wasted space, inefficiency, and outdated design assumptions.

That realization clarified the problem and the solution. By radically reducing square footage per room and designing hotels around sleep, safety, and efficiency, costs could be dramatically lowered.

Those savings could be passed directly to guests. Sleep Space was created to do exactly that: a hyper-efficient hotel model that delivers a warm, clean, safe place to sleep, without making people choose between comfort and affordability.

Sometimes, all you want is a good night’s sleep. Sleep Space was built for that moment.
